Why we all have to keep fighting

As I watched this video, I was reminded why we need equal rights and why we can't stop fighting until all LGBTQ kids have a safe place to call home. While this video takes place in New York city, this problem is prevalent everywhere and there are children all over the world who need our help. I know that in Detroit we have the Ruth Ellis Center , but I'm sure if you search, you can find a center just like it in your state.

  1. I can't even watch all the video, it hurts too much. As a parent I can't fathom kicking one of my boys out on the street. We are to nurture and care for the young, I just can't get it.

    Its Heartbreaking !

  2. I feel so conflicted, one piece of me sees this and is sort of happy that I didn't come out to my parents when I was still a teenager, because I know that this could have been me. Then another piece, a larger and much louder piece is yelling about getting involved and doing all I can to help, more than I already am. I'm thankful for parents who don't kick their kids out when they come out and to those who get involved. Thanks for reminding us of this Mom.

  3. DarienMoya-It really is heartbreaking. I could never do that to one of my kids. A parent's love should be unconditional.

Vic-I am just so, so, so happy that you are in a safe, nurturing space now. I just know that you are going to continue to grow and your future will be so bright. *hugs*

  4. I love my daughter no matter what. Her partner is wonderful. But she tells me of problems her friends have had with their families. I have a hard time handling that.

  5. Debby-It is so hard hearing about other kids who don't have the support of their parents. I can't imagine how a mother or father could turn their backs on their children.
