Shaolin Monks

I first saw this group a few years ago and was instantly captivated by their sheer talent. I know if I even attempted one of their moves I wouldn't be able to walk for a month!

Urban Ballet

Many of you already know about my daughter's learning disabilities. Not only is she behind in reading, but she has a marked speech delay. Quite often, she has found herself on the receiving end of odd looks and scathing comments, and not all of them have been from other children. Adults have frequently made unthoughtful remarks. There is one place where my daughter doesn't feel the scorn, though and that's when she's dancing. By far, her favorite class is ballet. When I asked her why she replied, "Because when I dance ballet I feel like a princess." You know what? She's looks like one, too. For those brief moments when she's on stage, she's not the girl who can't read chapter books. The one who's shorter than all her classmates. Or the child who can't talk clearly. Instead she's free.

Tap Dogs

Tap is one of my favorite forms of dance to watch, so when I discovered the Tap Dogs I was in heaven! When you watch this video, notice how they are perfectly in sync. Only hours of practice can make that possible, yet they manage to make it look so effortless.

When I found this video of six college guys singing and dancing to Tik Tok by Ke$ha I just knew I had to post it. Noah, baby, this one is for you!

National Dance Day

July 31st will mark National Dance Day.  As a former dancer myself and the mother of a budding ballerina, this is a subject that is very dear to my heart. In another blog, I likened watching a great dance routine, to finding a good bottle of wine. It's rare and something to be savored and enjoyed to its fullest. For the next couple weeks, along with my regular posts,  I will be posting some of my favorite dance routines. I hope that they will bring you the same joy they gave me.

The first one is a fun and inspirational one. Even though the video is a bit long, make sure to watch at least the first five minutes. I promise it will both touch your heart and amaze you.
